affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays.
The Charlotte Stone Crabs were formerly known as the Vero Beach Dodgers then the Vero Beach Devil Rays. The Vero Beach teams played at Holman Stadium, the former spring training home of the Los Angeles Dodgers. On Aug. 25, 2008, it was announced that the Vero Beach franchise was sold to Ripken Baseball, which resulted in the move to Charlotte County, Florida.In the team's Inaugural Season, the Stone Crabs won the FSL South Division after defeating the I-75 division rival Fort Myers Miracle in the Division Series. |
